I propose that Kasab be given the Padma Bhushan, or a higher award. He and his cohorts did what we couldn’t - for those 3 days and nights, the entire Nation came together as one. In fact, even after it was all over, we were still speaking as One India for the next 12 days - citizens formed groups, everyone said the right things, and we finally had a common enemy. Then came the 13th day, the ‘tervaa’, when the dead are and were forgotten. We went back to our normal lives - we attacked the bhaiyyas in Maharashtra, we attacked women in Karnataka, and I’m sure there are more attacks in the planning stages. We went back to being what we are - 30 states and 5 UT’s.
In a nutshell, Kasab deserves the Nation’s highest honour for doing more for India’s unity than any other living neta.
